				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><img style="float: left; margin-left: 12px; margin-right: 12px;" alt="Senator Collins" src="http://matc.org/images/Announcement/SenColins.jpg" width="292" height="192" />l. to r.; Laura Belleville, ATC Director of Conservation and Tony Barrett, MATC Vice President meeting with Senator Susan Collins at her Washington, DC office on February 15, 2012.  They are reviewing a map of the High Peaks Initiative in the Western Mountains of Maine.  Senator Collins was instrumental for her support of the Forest Legacy Grants for the Crocker Mountain and Orbeton Stream parcels.   When the remaining funds are secured, over 16,000 acres adjacent to the Appalachian Trail within the High Peaks area will be protected from development and preserved as working forest.</p>
