Privy Pre-Build

Palmyra, ME

Come help with some construction fun! You can help build, organize lumber, or package materials. We will be pre-building 3 privies on May 13-14 in Palmyra- come for one day or both! These privies will be built on-site later this season to replace the existing privies at Frye Notch, Cranberry Stream, and Pierce Pond.

Horns Pond Ridgerunner Pack-In

Bigelow District

The ridge runner season kicks-off with the annual pack-in to Horns Pond in the beautiful Bigelows! Meet at the Stratton Brook Pond Trail head at 8 am. It is a 5 mile hike to the campsite with a 2,000 feet elevation gain. Please bring a backpack with extra space in it to help transport items up to the campsite. After arriving at the campsite, a few hours will be spent setting up the ridgerunner's "home" for the season. Then we hike the 5 miles back to the parking lot.

Brush Clearing at Future Site of Maine Trail Center

Join us for a few hours of brush clearing, for brush that is mostly already sawn. We'll also clear away firewood from the building site. Please bring gloves, eye protection, water, lunch, and bug protection.

Corridor Monitoring Workshop

Baldpate District

If you are interested in corridor monitoring, looking for a refresher, or just want to know what it's all about, this day-long workshop is where you learn the skills needed to find monuments, hang signs, and document your activities. This session will meet at the Height of Land on Route 17; please contact Dave Field if you are interested in attending for additional details. Rain date is June 4.

Pierce Pond Privy Haul

Kennebec District

We need your help getting materials to the Pierce Pond campsite on June 10! The privy was pre-built in May and is now packaged into ~150 bundles that are about 15-30 pounds. Volunteers are needed to shoulder this material to the campsite. It's about a 0.5 mile walk over flat terrain to the campsite, so it doesn't get much easier than that! Many hands make lighter work, and we need many hands for this project. Those of you involved in past projects can attest to the camaraderie, satisfaction, and good fun with these projects!

Gulf Hagas Ridge-Runner Pack-In

Our summer ridge-runner is headed to their "home" for the season, and we need some help getting in supplies and equipment. Volunteers should meet at the Katahdin Iron Works gatehouse at 8:30 or the Gulf Hagas parking lot at 9:00 am.

Cranberry Stream Privy Site Prep

We're building a new privy at Cranberry Stream, and need your help! On July 8 we'll do the site prep including felling a couple of trees, digging to get a flat surface, and installing the base 4x6s. It's about a 0.9 mile walk with 220 feet of elevation gain to the campsite. We want to get the site primed for the build on September 2-3!
