Join MATC members in “old fashion work trips” that could involve anything from building lean-tos and privies, to relocating trail sections, to painting blazes, to helping with corridor monitoring, to helping with Spring Clean-up on the AT.
Horns Pond Ridgerunner Pack-In
Come help us pack supplies in for the Bigelow ridgerunner for the 2026 season! It's a ~5.0 mile one-way hike with about 2,000 feet of elevation gain.
Campsite Maintainer Workshop
Are you new to campsite maintenance? Been at it for a few years, but want a refresher? Or, maybe you've been considering taking on an assignment but want to see what's involved first? Whatever the case, join us at the Wilson Valley Campsite on May 30 (rain date May 31) for a workshop designed for campsite maintainers! We'll cover the 11 essential steps of a maintenance visit and even tackle a few tasks together.
Help Replace the Katahdin Stream Bridge in Baxter State Park
Volunteers are needed on Mondays, Tuesdays, and/or Wednesdays during the first three weeks of June (June 1–3, 8–10, and 15–17). Work will include: Hiking tools and materials in and out of the site Setting up rigging systems Operating Griphoists Timber preparation Bridge demolition This is a physically demanding project that involves strenuous hiking and heavy labor. Spaulding Mountain Campsite Privy Site Prep
The Spaulding Mountain campsite is getting a new privy, and we need your help! On June 6 (rain date June 7) we'll do the site prep which will involve felling some trees and digging to get a flat surface. Access involves about 3.4 miles of hiking with 1,250 feet elevation gain.
Trail Work for Beginners at Little Boardman
This day-long event will be a great introduction to what's involved with trail maintenance on the AT. It will take place on Little Boardman Mountain over easy terrain. Contact Janice for more information.

Trail Crew Pack-In: Holly Brook
Help our trail crew gear up for their next backcountry project! On this single-day trip, we’ll hike into the Holly Brook area with tools and equipment, then set up a base camp for the crew where they'll stay for their multi-day "hitch.". It’s a fun, hands‑on way to experience the behind‑the‑scenes work that makes trail projects possible.

Access involves about 4.0 miles of hiking with 2,670 feet elevation gain. We are looking for people to help haul up tools on just July 18, and people to stay July 18 and 19 to do the site prep activities.
