Horseshoe Canyon Privy Prep

We're building a new privy at the Horseshoe Canyon campsite in July, and need your help! On July 9 we'll do the site prep including felling a couple of trees, digging to get a flat surface, and installing the base 4x6s. We are still exploring access to the campsite (the West Branch of the Piscataquis is posing challenges), so stay tuned!

Horseshoe Canyon Privy Haul and Build

Kennebec District

We need your help building a new privy at the Horseshoe Canyon campsite on July 16-17! The privy was pre-built in April and is now packaged into ~150 bundles that are about 15-30 pounds. Volunteers are needed to shoulder this material to the campsite. It's about a 0.7 mile walk over flat terrain with 170 feet of elevation to the campsite. We are still scheming access (the West Branch of the Piscataquis River driving to be a challenge), so the access route may change.  Many hands make lighter work, and we need many hands for this project. Long Pond Stream Privy Prep

We're building a new privy at Long Pond Stream, and need your help! On August 20 we'll do the site prep including felling a couple of trees, digging to get a flat surface, and installing the base 4x6s. It's about a 1 mile walk with 400 feet of elevation gain to the campsite. We want to get the site primed for the haul and build on Labor Day weekend!

Logan Brook Lean-To Sill Replacement

White Cap District

It's sill replacement time! The trees we felled back in June have been drying (=becoming less heavy) so we can now replacing the rotting sills with these fresh logs. We're looking for about a half dozen volunteers to help do some final excavation, jack up the lean-to, and slide the new logs into place! It's slow but rewarding work! It’s a 1.3-mile hike with about 950 feet of elevation gain to access the campsite.
