Frye Notch Campsite: This Baldpate District campsite needs a maintainer! This one’s not easy to get to; there are a couple of different ways but the shortest is 3.5 miles with 1,700 feet of elevation gain. Either way leaves from the East B Hill Road, so any vehicle can get there. Campsite maintenance duties include raking around the lean-to and tenting areas, maintaining the privy, cleaning the fire pit, checking the water source, looking for suspected hazard trees, ensuring proper signage, and packing out trash. A new privy was built in 2023; maintenance involves “raking the pile”, but it’s really not that bad (witnesses available upon request)- become an MATC “turd herder!” More information on campsite maintainer duties and privy maintenance.
