Sidney Tappan New Privy Prep

June 26
White Cap District

Join us on Saturday June 26 to help prepare the building site for a new privy at the Sidney Tappan campsite. The new privy will be constructed September 4-5, but on June 26 we'll fell a couple of trees, level the ground (yes, this means some digging), and install the base 4x6s. Duff removal tends to be physically taxing so it's good to have plenty of people to cycle in and out to keep those digging muscles fresh!

New Tent Platforms at Crocker Cirque Campsite

July 17
Bigelow District

Join us on Saturday July 17 to transport materials and tools and build two new tent platforms at the Crocker Cirque campsite. There are two old tent platforms there that are in tough shape. It's about a 1.5 mile walk to the campsite. No one is expected to carry an item the full distance! We will be breaking it up into several segments, so sort of a relay/bucket-brigade effort. Many hands make light work, and we need many hands for…

Privy Pre-Build

July 31 - August 1

We try to be smart about campsite work, and in that vein we pre-cut all privy materials to length before they are installed. That's what we'll be up to on July 31 and possibly August 1 as well, and you're welcome to join us! This event will take place in the "front-country" at a residence in Palmyra, so no is hiking necessary! There will be lots of lumber cutting, prepping, and packing but no hauling!

Rainbow Stream Lean-To Sill Work

August 21 - August 22
Katahdin District

Here is a chance to experience a complex lean-to rehabilitation. 4 lower and another rear log are rotted so we'll be systematically jacking up the structure and replacing 5 logs with 3, digging out the sidehill on one side and rear of structure, hardening those side hills and channelling the water from rear, and raising the structure on new base rocks. Dirt will be used to improve nearby earthen tent sites. Much like the Hall Mtn project without the 1400'…

Sidney Tappan Privy Building

September 4 - September 5
White Cap District

We're putting the "labor" into Labor Day weekend by building a new privy at the Sidney Tappan campsite! A group of Colby College freshman will help haul in the materials (thank goodness!) on September 4th, but we'll need plenty of people to help with building, painting, and tool toting.
