Campsite Maintainer Wanted – White Cap District

Wilson Valley Campsite: Be the maintainer for a campsite in the 100-Mile! The Wilson Valley campsite is near the Barren-Chairback Range. Drive access is via Greenville and an old logging road where a high-clearance vehicle is recommended. Walk access is about 0.5 miles with a small drop in elevation. This campsite has a lean-to, tent sites, as well as a moldering privy. Privy maintenance involves “raking the pile”, but it’s really not that bad (witnesses available upon request); become a MATC “turd herder!”  More information on campsite maintainer duties and privy maintenance. Contact campsite@matc.org or kennebec@matc.org

We are hoping to work with a group of Colby College volunteers are needed to shoulder this material to the campsite, but we will still need plenty of MATC volunteers to help. Wilson Valley Privy Haul and Build

We need your help building a new privy at the Wilson Valley campsite on June 18-19! The privy was pre-built in April and is now packaged into ~150 bundles that are about 15-30 pounds. Many hands make lighter work, and we need many hands for this project. A group will also be building the privy while materials are hauled in. Come for one day or both! Those of […]

Wilson Valley Privy Prep

We’re building a new privy at Wilson Valley in June, and need your help! On June 5 we’ll do the site prep including felling a couple of trees, digging to get a flat surface, and installing the base 4x6s. We will also stage the materials at the corridor; the last mile or so the trailer of lumber will be towed with Brad’s tractor to the corridor (think of it as a free tractor pulling demo like at the county fair!). If we have extra hands, we can start hauling materials to the campsite. It’s about a 0.7 mile walk over […]
