Volunteer Recognition Awards

The Appalachian Trail Conservancy (ATC) and the National Park Service Appalachian National Scenic Trail Park Office (APPA) offer this Trail-wide recognition program to honor and thank volunteers for their invaluable contributions to the Appalachian Trail. This program complements the volunteer recognition efforts of individual A.T. Maintaining Clubs and other organizations that coordinate volunteer support for the Trail.

Hours of Service Awards

The Hours-of-Service Recognition Program acknowledges the cumulative time volunteers dedicate to the Appalachian Trail. Administered by ATC—primarily through local Trail-maintaining clubs—this program highlights the essential role volunteers play in preserving and protecting the Trail.

The Maine Appalachian Trail Club (MATC) proudly participates in this initiative to celebrate the dedication of our volunteers. Each year, MATC gathers volunteer hour data through the Worktrip Reporting System and presents service awards at our Annual Meeting in April.
