Hall Mountain Campsite Privy Site Prep

The Hall Mountain campsite is getting a new privy, and we need your help! On July 19 (rain date July 20) we'll do the site prep which will involve felling some trees and digging to get a flat surface. Access involves about 2.5 miles of hiking with 1,700 feet elevation gain.

The Maine Trail Crew will be working on the trail section from the West Branch Piscataquis River to Marble Brook. Volunteers are invited to help with this project! The crew will car camp near the work site and walk to the project area each day; there is minimal elevation gain from the camp site to the work site. For more information: coordinator@matc.org

Women's Work Weekend: Moose Falls Campsite/Bigelow Lodge Bigelow District Please join us on August 9 (Rain date August 10) to fix up the Moose Falls Campsite. We will be removing a hazardous tent platform and replacing it with an earthen pad. This work trip is open to women eager to explore trail maintenance in a friendly, supportive setting. Participants are invited to stay at the Bigelow Lodge for the weekend. One day will be dedicated to the project and the off day free for exploration and fun. Horns Pond Campsite Cleanup!

Let’s make a difference where it matters most! Join us for a rewarding weekend of fresh air, stunning scenery, and meaningful action as we clean up the Horns Pond Campsite. It's the highest campsite in Maine, and over the years it has accumulated several generations of by-gone privies and other now unused items. This overnight trip will be to prepare the unwanted goods to be helicoptered out in 2026 (assuming we can secure the funds! Come help  leave the campsite better than we found it!
