    The Maine Trail Crew repairs steep, rugged, and degraded sections of the Appalachian Trail, helping to protect and preserve this treasured resource for future generations. Volunteers (18+) are invited to apply to join our paid crew for one or more of the following sessions: June 29 – July 3; July 6 – July 10; July 13 – July 17; July 20 – July 24; August 3 – August 7 Projects run Monday morning through Thursday or Friday afternoon.     We're building new privies at the Avery Memorial, Safford Notch, and Spaulding Mountain campsites this summer, and need your help! The plan is for the materials to be helicoptered to these sites on one day in early August; we'll build them after that. Dates will fall within the following range and will be finalized as the season progresses, depending on conditions and overall progress. August 8-9 (if the airlift has happened) August 15-16 August 22-23 August 29-30 Access to these campsites is as follows: Avery Memorial: 4.0 miles with 2,670 feet of elevation gain Safford Notch: 2.3 miles with 1,225 […]

    Privy Pre-Build: Fall Edition

    Palmyra, ME

    Join us for some hands‑on construction fun! We’ll be building, organizing lumber, and packaging materials as we pre‑assemble one of the privies for the 2027 season in Palmyra. This early build is needed because the Rainbow Spring privy will be transported to the campsite by snowmobile during the winter of 2027, ahead of the usual spring pre‑build.
