A bunch of materials are being flow out of the Horns Pond campsite later this summer. We need help bundling these materials to be helicoptered out in August. Access is a 4.5 mile hike with 2,000 feet of elevation gain. We’ll be carrying heavy-duty ratchet straps, slings, and burlap bags to prepare the materials as well as other tools.

Horns Pond Ridgerunner Pack-In
Come help us pack supplies in for the Bigelow ridgerunner for the 2026 season! It’s a ~5.0 mile one-way hike with about 2,000 feet of elevation gain.
August Privy Builds
We’re building new privies at the Avery Memorial, Safford Notch, and Spaulding Mountain campsites this summer, and need your help! The plan is for the materials to be helicoptered to these sites on one day in early August; we’ll build them after that. Dates will fall within the following range and will be finalized as the season progresses, depending on conditions and overall progress.
- August 8-9 (if the airlift has happened)
- August 15-16
- August 22-23
- August 29-30
Access to these campsites is as follows:
- Avery Memorial: 4.0 miles with 2,670 feet of elevation gain
- Safford Notch: 2.3 miles with 1,225 feet of elevation gain
- Spaulding Mountain: 3.4 miles with 1,250 feet of elevation gain
Due to the long access, these trips will be two days and we will be in backpacking mode (staying at the campsites). However, we can accommodate day-trippers to Safford Notch (it’s a bit closer), and we’ll also be looking for people to come in on just the Sunday of the build weekend to help haul out tools.
Please join us! Those of you involved in past projects can attest to the camaraderie, satisfaction, and good fun with these projects!
